Who being duly sworn certifies to the best of his knowledge & belief, That on or about the night of the 23rd of Dec. 1863 a black horse mule property of the Confederate States & under the direction of C A Redd Capt & AQM of the said Regt was stolen from his wagon yard.
The certificate is based upon the follow facts: The mule was securely tied with a
chain halter & known to be at his proper place at a late hour of the night. At dawn he
was missing. No vestige of the fastening was left, & after dilligent search, all through
the various camps & country. The mule could not be found either dead or alive.
