DEVAUGHN, MICHAEL
Born January 24, 1833. Captured at Vicksburg July 4, 1863 and paroled on the 10th. Captured at Resaca, Georgia May 15, 1864 and sent to Alton Military Prison, Alton, Illinois before being transferred to Camp Douglas, Illinois on August 23, 1864. While in prison he was hospitalized with measles from June 26 to July 2, 1864. From July 10 through 14 he suffered with diarrhoea. Again hospitalized from August 6 through 22, 1864, he was plagued with dysenteria. He died of smallpox at Camp Douglas on September 26, 1864. Was a member of the old Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church (now Wesobulga Presbyterian Church) of Wesobulga, Clay County, Alabama.

Born October 29, 1842. Enlisted in Randolph County by J. M. Handley and mustered in at Camp Shorter, Loachapoka, Alabama on May 15, 1862. On muster roll for May and June 1864 for duty at Military Prison, Atlanta, Georgia (as he was held unfit for field service). Died June 1, 1897 and buried in an unmarked grave in the New Harmony Cemetery, Clay County, Alabama.

Discharged from the 14th Alabama, Company K (Louina Guards) March 24, 1862 due to broken health from measles and typhoid fever. Re-enlisted January 1, 1863 and assigned to Company G of the 46th Alabama Infantry. Captured at Vicksburg on July 4, 1863 and paroled July 10. Recaptured near Atlanta on July 28, 1864 and sent to Columbus, Ohio. Took oath of allegiance at Camp Chase, Ohio on May 15, 1865. Records show he was born September 16, 1840 in LaFayette, Chambers County, Alabama and that about 1907-08 he resided at Goldville, Alabama.
